Eoleaf vs. Vax air purifiers
Eoleaf vs. Vax air purifiers: what’s the best choice in 2025?
Vax, a UK-based company that sells cleaning solutions focusing mainly on floor cleaners, also offers a limited range of two air purifier models that were fairly popular during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nowadays, information on Vax air purifiers is now hard to find, and all Vax air purifiers are listed as being out of stock. What is going on with Vax air purifiers? How do their models compare to Eoleaf air purifiers? Read on to learn more.

Important update: Vax no longer sells air purifiers
Vax specialises in carpet and floor cleaning solutions, mainly vacuums and spot cleaners. However, in the early 2020s, Vax also offered a limited but fairly popular line of air treatment devices. Their range of air purifiers consisted of two models: the Vax Pure Air 200 and the Vax Pure Air 300.
According to the Vax website, the Vax Pure Air 200 air purifier cleans the air in spaces of up to 105 m2. It has 5 speed settings, Night mode, some limited smart features, and is available for a price of £249.96. It also claims to have a ‘cleanable filter to extend time before the filter has to be replaced’.
The Vax Pure Air 300 air purifier, their larger model, cleans the air in spaces of up to 120 m2. It also has 5 speed settings, Night mode, some limited smart features, and a dust sensor. It is available for a price of £279.99.
Regarding Vax air purifiers’ filtration technologies, our team struggled to find any technical specifications for either device, all of which seemed to have been removed from the Vax website. Both product descriptions mention that these devices ‘remove 99% of harmful particles as small as 0.3 microns’, but not much more.

Discontinued air purifier product line with no plans to restock
Upon digging a bit further, we quickly discovered that Vax has discontinued its air purifier product line with no plans to relaunch or restock these products. Vax air purifiers, as a result, are no longer available for purchase. Instead of stating plainly that these products are no longer available and will not become available again, the Pure Air 200 and Pure Air 300 are still listed on their website as ‘out of stock’. This does not provide much clarity and may generate confusion amongst prospective buyers and those looking to replace their filters.
Why you should consider a long-term alternative
It goes without saying that this discontinuation has serious implications for existing Vax air purifier customers and new customers who were hoping to make a purchase. This indicates that official customer support, replacement filters and parts, and technical support for existing customers are all likely limited and will disappear completely as time goes on due to inevitable obsolescence. That said, it is recommended for Vax customers to seek out a long-term alternative for air purification rather than living on borrowed time with whatever support remains from Vax in regards to its air purifier line.

Discover Eoleaf: a team of air purification specialists
Considering Vax’s swift exit from the air purification market, it is important for consumers to shift their focus on more reliable and high-performing air purification solutions. Here at Eoleaf, we are not just another home electronics brand looking to add a line of air purifiers as just another income stream. We are air purification specialists who sell air purification solutions and air purification solutions only. We offer the most comprehensive air filtration devices on the market, equipped with 8 different filtration technologies.
Designed for spaces of all sizes
Vax air purifiers focused mainly on medium-sized and large spaces. Eoleaf devices are designed for spaces of all sizes:
- NeoPur 400: our compact model ideal for smaller spaces like urban flats or small rooms of larger homes up to 40 m2 (450 sq. ft.)
- TeraPur 600: our medium-sized and most versatile model that filters the air in spaces of up to 80 m2 (850 sq. ft.)
- AltaPur 700: our largest and most powerful model designed to purify the air in spaces like open-plan offices, living rooms, and large professional spaces of up to 120 m2 (1300 sq. ft.)
What stands out most amongst Eoleaf air purifiers is their 8-step filtration technology, outstanding power (with record CADRs, advanced PM2.5 and formaldehyde sensors), and smart features that make monitoring your indoor air quality easy.
Premium build, quiet use
Eoleaf air purifiers put both air purification performance and user experience at the forefront of its business. Each device is designed to be powerful but quiet so as not to disturb you when you are working, sleeping, or performing other activities that require a calm environment. Eoleaf devices are also equipped with Night mode, specifically designed to run quietly while you are sleeping.

Filtration technology breakdown
Vax filtration technologies
Our team was unable to find a breakdown of Vax air purifiers’ filtration technologies. This information was likely removed from the Vax website once the products were discontinued. We know that there is at least a HEPA filter that combats fine particles: its devices claim to remove 99% of harmful particles down to 0.3 microns. However, we do not know if the HEPA filter was certified HEPA (or ‘true HEPA’). If they are certified HEPA, we can surmise that these devices are likely HEPA H11 grade given their filtration rate of 99%. For comparison, as part of its 8-step air purification technology, Eoleaf air purifiers contain a HEPA H13-certified filter layer which falls under the category of ‘medical-grade’. H11 does not. Again, this would be assuming that Vax air purifiers were HEPA-certified, but this information cannot be confirmed due to the lack of information on their website. Some comments on Amazon state that Vax uses a Vax-patented HEPA filter rather than having received HEPA certification, a common practice amongst air purifier brands like DysonandBlueair, but one that does not encourage transparency as they have not been tested for efficiency by a third party.
In the product descriptions for both the Pure Air 200 and Pure Air 300, nothing has been mentioned regarding Vax air purifiers’ capabilities to remove harmful gaseous pollutants like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide, ozone, or the like. HEPA filters do not filter gaseous pollutants and are only capable of combatting fine particles (PM10 and PM2.5, for example). Furthermore, due to the low price of £50 for Vax replacement filters, we are led to believe that a HEPA-type filter is the only filtration technology included in their air purifiers’ filters.

Eoleaf filtration technologies
Air purification is at the heart of our business. This is why our devices are equipped with 8 different air purification technologies, each of which targets and removes a specific type of indoor air pollution. Our technologies are as follows:
- Pre-filter: capture larger particles like hair and dust
- Bamboo filter with an antibacterial coating
- HEPA H13-certified filter: removes 99.97% of all fine particles down to a size of 0.01 microns in a single pass (combats fine particles including PM10 and PM2.5)
- Activated carbon filter: combats chemical pollution like VOCs, other harmful gases, and odours
- Photocatalysis technologies: designed to remove more complex chemical gases
- Ionisation technologies: further targets fine particles but is particularly adept at removing fine particles generated by smoke
- UVC sterilisation technologies: an essential technology that fights against germs (viruses and bacteria) but also sterilises your filter to reduce the risk of recontamination and make it safe for handling during filter changes
Real impact on allergens, VOCs, and germs
Eoleaf’s advanced, multi-layer filtration technology is engineered to combat all types of indoor air pollution and airborne contaminants. This may range from chemical pollution (VOCs found in everyday products), unpleasant odours, fine particles (PM10 and PM2.5), allergens (pet hair and dander, pollen, dust and dust mites, and mould spores), and germs (viruses and bacteria). Vax air purifiers are equipped with limited air purification technologies which offer limited protection against more complex airborne threats.

Coverage and airflow efficiency
Vax air purifiers
After doing some research, our team was able to uncover the Vax Pure Air 200’s CADRs on the Currys website and are listed below:
- Smoke: 305
- Pollen: 282
- Dust: 272
It is recommended to purchase an air purifier that achieves an ACH (Air Changes per Hour) of 3-5. This means that the air is completely replaced by the air purifier 3 to 5 times per hour. We use the following formula to calculate ACH:
- ACH = CADR/volume
The Vax Pure Air 200 air purifier claims to filter spaces of up to 105 m2. In order to calculate ACH, we must use volume instead of surface area. Using the average ceiling height in the UK of 2.5 metres, the maximum volume that the Pure Air 200 would be able to filter is 105 m2 x 2.5 m = 262.5 m3. Now, we can input volume into the above equation. Let’s use their CADR for smoke, their highest CADR:
- ACH = CADR/volume
- ACH = 305/262.5 = 1.16
With an ACH of 1.16, the Vax Pure Air 200 would filter the air in a space of 105 m2 a little more than once per hour! Imagine someone smoking a cigarette in this space and having it take just under an hour for the smoke to be removed from that space. Not only is this device barely serving its purpose, but governing bodies would not be able to recommend it as an air purification solution because it does not even come close to achieving an ACH of 3 (the minimum recommendation).
That said, what coverage area would this air purifier be able to filter? Reworking the above equation, this air purifier would not be adapted to spaces any larger than 35 m2, a mere fraction of what this air purifier claims to cover.

Eoleaf air purifiers
Eoleaf air purifiers are designed with superior power for fast and effective air purification. Our CADR rates per device at their fastest fan speeds (speed 4 for the NeoPur 400 and speed 5 for the TeraPur 600 and AltaPur 700) are as follows:
- NeoPur 400: 420 m3/h
- TeraPur 600: 570 m3/h
- AltaPur 700: 670 m3/h
Eoleaf’s high airflow rate allows for significantly improved air quality at a fast rate, protecting you from incoming pollutants that may be dangerous for your health.

Open plan vs. compact rooms
Our air purifiers at Eoleaf are designed for spaces of all types. Our NeoPur 400 air purifier, our most compact model, is ideal for smaller spaces and individual rooms or flats. Our TeraPur 600 is versatile and perfect for all spaces of up to 80 m2. Finally, our AltaPur 700 is our most powerful model, engineered for large spaces like living rooms and professional areas with a larger volume. All of our devices offer impressive power.
Sound and energy performance
Noise levels
One of the most common reasons for negative reviews on Amazon for both Vax air purifier models is noise. After about three months, Vax air purifiers, already fairly noisy in the first place according to certain users, become significantly noisier after about three months of use. One user described the Pure Air 300 as ‘aeroplane loud’ and another stating that she ‘barely ever used it due to the noise’. One other customer said that the device was ‘unusable’ due to the excessive noise.
Eoleaf devices are near-silent in lower speeds, designed to be left running even during moments where silence is required (sleeping, studying, and working, for example). On speed 1, our devices are whisper-quiet.
Energy consumption
One of Eoleaf devices’ most significant strong points is their low energy consumption. Our devices are extremely energy efficient, contributing only about £1-3 (1-2 € or $1-2) per month to your energy bill even when left running 24/7. Our air purifiers are equipped with an Automatic mode that leaves the device running on its lowest fan speed by default, increasing the fan speed only when it senses new incoming air pollutants. The fan speed then automatically increases and returns to the slowest speed once again after the new pollutants have been treated. This saves a significant amount of energy.
Vax units come equipped with a Smart Sensor Technology, but since these units have now been discontinued, there is no information available regarding their energy consumption.
Build quality and user experience
Premium vs. consumer-grade construction
Eoleaf devices are professional-grade units and are built for durability and longevity. Their robust components and filters that last an entire year before requiring changing show that our devices are engineered with quality in mind. Vax units, due to their low price point, are built with materials that are much less likely to withstand the test of time. Critically, these devices have been discontinued and are, thus, no longer supported, raising concerns about long-term reliability.
Appearance and aesthetics
Eoleaf air purifiers are sleek, modern, and blend seamlessly into any professional environment. Vax units were designed with a basic, less refined, functional appearance.

Connectivity and smart features
Eoleaf’s range of air purifiers comes equipped with a host of smart features. All Eoleaf devices contain smart sensors that allow users to monitor their indoor air quality from a distance and in real-time. Our devices offer smartphone app integration, gesture control, voice commands, and are Wi-Fi compatible.
Vax devices do not come equipped with smart features. There is no app integration or Wi-Fi connectivity. This partially explains the low price point of Vax devices.
Maintenance and filter lifespan
Long-term savings with Eoleaf filters and support over time
Filter lifespan was yet another common complaint amongst Vax customers. Although the filter pricing was low at just £50, Vax recommended performing filter replacements every 6 months. However, in reality, many users claimed that filter changes needed to be performed every 3 months. Despite low filter pricing, with much more frequent filter change requirements, the budget for air purifier maintenance was much higher than expected for most users. Now that Vax air purifiers have been discontinued, it is unknown whether filters will remain available, though some users have noted in their Amazon reviews that they are facing difficulty purchasing new filters through Vax’s website and have resorted to purchasing third-party filters.
Eoleaf makes it very clear that our devices only require filter changes once every year (every six months for the PurCar) providing you with transparency and savings on filter pricing in the long term. Our filters are heavy and built-to-last, removing the frustration of knowing that you need to replace your filter much earlier than anticipated. Furthermore, our customer service is efficient, human, and multilingual, and we are always ready to provide you with support whenever you need it.

For allergy sufferers, families, and pet owners
Eoleaf air purifiers are useful in nearly any indoor space, but especially for allergy sufferers, families with vulnerable individuals (infants and children, pregnant women, elderly individuals, and those with pre-existing conditions), and pet owners. If allergy symptoms are impacting your quality of life, a high-performance air purifier like Eoleaf’s helps combat airborne allergens like pet dander, pollen, and mould spores.
For families with young children, particularly those who suffer from asthma, an Eoleaf air purifier services as an essential addition to your home. Airborne pollutants are respiratory irritants that exacerbate asthma symptoms and other respiratory conditions like COPD, pulmonary embolism, and lung cancer. An Eoleaf air purifier provides much-needed relief from your symptoms.
For professional spaces: offices, medical clinics, beauty salons, coworking spaces, etc.
High-performance air purifiers like Eoleaf’s also provide protection in places where members of the public congregate like offices, medical clinics and institutions, hair and nail salons, coworking spaces, schools, pharmacies, care homes, restaurants, hotels, gyms and fitness centres, and more. These places encounter all types of indoor air pollution including fine particle pollution (PM10 and PM2.5), chemical pollution (VOCs, ozone, carbon monoxide, etc.), germs (viruses and bacteria), odours, and allergens (pet hair and dander, dust and dust mites, pollen, and mould spores). Protecting both staff and clients from the adverse health effects caused by indoor air pollution exposure is crucial for well-being!

Investment comparison: is Eoleaf worth the price?
Upfront vs. long-term costs
Eoleaf’s air purifiers may have a higher upfront cost compared to Vax air purifiers and other low-cost air purifiers on Amazon, but our air purifiers benefit from a longer filter lifespan that results in less money spent and less waste produced in the long run.
Additionally, our devices offer the most comprehensive filtration technologies on the market! Our 8-step filtration technology ensures that any and all air pollutants present in your space are quickly and efficiently removed, safeguarding your health and the health of your loved ones.

Frequently asked questions
Why did Vax stop selling air purifiers?
Vax stopped selling air purifiers in order to focus more on its floor cleaning product range. It has no plans to relaunch the air purifier product line.
Are Vax air purifiers still supported by customer service?
It seems that Vax customers are still able to purchase replacement filters on its website. However, some customers have reported being unable to do so consistently and have had to resort to purchasing third-party filters with questionable quality. If Vax still does offer replacement filters on its website, it is unsure as to how long this will be the case as this product line becomes more and more obsolete.
Can I still use a Vax air purifier if I can’t find official filters?
Customers take a risk purchasing third-party filters for their air purifiers. Yes, prices may be lower, but quality is often questionable, and third-party suppliers may make unfounded claims, especially when it comes to HEPA certification. Third-party filter suppliers have often been caught claiming that their filters are HEPA certified when that is not the case. Buyer beware!
