During the coronavirus pandemic, certain countries throughout Europe required an ‘open-window policy’ in schools, requiring that teachers open the windows in classrooms each day to reduce viral transmission and improve ventilation, leading to widescale improved exam results and concentration amongst children.

However, according to a survey out of the UK, many teachers (74% of those surveyed) decried the policy, claiming that it creates unworkable conditions in wintertime. Over a quarter (27%) of teachers surveyed stated that their windows could not even be opened. Nearly half of parents surveyed believe that the policy leads to conditions that are too cold for their children during winter.
